Meet the team
Phil Hardy
Founding Director. Phil has spent over 45 years teaching personal safety and physical intervention skills. An early passion for martial arts led to a career in HM Prison Service as a Physical Education Instructor. After completing the Instructor course in Control & Restraint, he transitioned to a role as a leisure therapist and preventing aggression and violence trainer in secure psychiatric settings. In 1995, he founded SecuriCare, developing and delivering training across a wide range of sectors as SecuriCare established itself as a market leader. He’s also been involved in several national development groups with organisations such as HSE, NICE and the NHS and is the founder and chairman of the Institute of Conflict Management.
Adrian Pannett
Founding Director. Adrian has extensive experience in retail security and staff training. Since 1996, he has worked with SecuriCare developing training programs for various industries and from 2001 to 2011 led SecuriCare’s Airline training program development. Whilst still an active Director with SecuriCare, in 2011 he co-founded Elysium Supported Living, an organisation that provides support and care to adults with complex needs. Since 2020 he has worked remotely with SecuriCare and in the Real Estate industry in the US, where he now resides.
Tanya Pannett
Clinical Advisor. Tanya is a highly experienced healthcare professional with a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology. She has worked with SecuriCare since the early 2000s, providing professional oversight and guidance in risk management, training, and intervention. She is the co-founder and CEO of Elysium Supported Living Ltd and has experience in financial management, staff management, and business development.
Colin Pollard
Executive Director. Colin brings over 35 years of front-line experience to his role as Director at SecuriCare. He worked for 16 years in maximum secure Prisons in various roles before joining SecuriCare in 1999, where he oversaw the company’s Internal Quality Management Systems and developed training programs for clients including the Home Office and Center Parcs. He’s an expert in communication, leadership, business management, and compliance.
Joanne Purvis
Executive Director. Following a career in aviation as cabin crew, progressing quickly to a management level, Joanne moved into the care sector supporting people with learning disabilities. Having trained as a SecuriCare Licensed Trainer with the care company she worked for, in 2005 she joined SecuriCare as a training manager. Utilising her experience to train across various sectors Joanne became a valuable member of SecuriCare’s management team. Now a Director, Joanne continues to focus on preventing challenging behaviour in aviation, care and education settings, and designing training programmes for staff.
Karl Blackwell
Executive Director. Karl has a background in security and lone-working in high-risk environments and has over 30 years of experience as a trainer. He began teaching martial arts in the 1980s and founded a personal safety training company. In 2006, he joined SecuriCare as a Licensed Trainer and has since become a Director. He is responsible for developing and delivering training across a wide range of sectors. In addition, he also designs custom courses and care plans and manages customer relationships.
Trevor Platt
Executive Director. Trevor has over 10 years of experience as an Analytical Chemist and in Bookkeeping. He joined SecuriCare in 2019 and rose to Director in 2022. He’s responsible for online learning, standards compliance, bookkeeping, website development, and training materials development. He is renowned for his strong communication, attention to detail, and diverse skills in course development, compliance management, and systems design.
Alexandra Turner
Senior Trainer. Alexandra joined SecuriCare in 2022 with experience in care, travel, and training. She now delivers training across all sectors including Airlines, Security, Health and Social Care, and Education. She enjoys working in the area of Challenging Behaviour and Positive Behaviour Support, particularly in Health and Social Care, and Education. She’s also a qualified First Aider.
Securicare Train The Trainer Network
SecuriCare Licensed Trainer. Since its incorporation in 1995, SecuriCare has trained people within its extensive customer base to deliver bespoke training programmes within their organisation. Our network of SecuriCare Licensed Trainers numbers over 300 across all employment sectors and overseas. Our Online Learning Management System and administration/Certification team support the trainers in their delivery to ensure the highest quality of training provision in-house.
