This programme has been developed for:
Individuals who are responsible for delivering physical skills training; breakaway skills or physical intervention skills.
The aim of this programme is:
To develop staff knowledge and awareness of human anatomy and physiology.
Designed to enable training practitioners to deliver physical skills training safely and effectively
The topics covered include:
· Basic anatomical terms
· The main components of the nervous system
· The main components of cardio-vascular system
· The main components of respiratory system
· The function of muscles
· The function of bones
· The function of joints
- The differences between males and females
· The differences between children and adults
· Special groups at risk during physical intervention
· The process of perceiving pain
· The body’s response to injury
· Describe common types of injury
- The management soft tissue injuries; The P.R.I.C.E. protocol
· The benefits of a warm-up and cool-down
· Managing the risks on training courses
Method of delivery and assessment:
Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and discussion.
Learner’s knowledge is evidenced by verbal or written questioning.
