This programme has been developed for:

Staff responsible for completing searches of staff and customers.

The aim of this programme is:

To develop staff knowledge and confidence in the correct procedures for effectively searching a person.  This programme can include both hand held detector and 'pat-down' techniques.

The topics covered include:

  • The Law and human rights
  • Procudres for obtaining permission to search
  • Searching techniques
  • Preserving evidence 

Method of delivery and assessment:

Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and discussion.

Learner’s knowledge is evidenced by verbal or written questioning.

Duration of training:

1 day
