This programme has been developed for:

Staff who have been given responsibility for completing risk assessments, specifically those relating to work related violence.

Staff required to manage the risk of challenging, disruptive or violent behaviour.

The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 compels employers to undertake risk assessments.

The aim of this programme is:

To enable staff to plan, undertake and record risk assessments.

The topics covered include:

  • The legal perspective
  • The costs of violence
  • The principles of risk assessment
  • The legal hierarchy of control
  • The reasonable practicality of reducing risk
  • Controlling the risk of violence
  • Developing training interventions
  • Action planning
  • Monitoring systems

Method of delivery and assessment:

Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and discussion.

Delegate knowledge is checked using Q&A or written tests.

Duration of training:

1 day
