BTec Level 2 Security Guarding
This programme has been developed for:
Staff who operate as ‘Security Guards’.
The Private Security Act 2001 makes it a legal requirement for those working in the private security sector to undertake a mandatory training programme before applying for their Security Industry Authority (SIA) license.
(Failure to do so by can expose employees and employers alike to fines of up to £5000.00 and even a 6 month prison sentence).

This course complies and meets all the objectives laid down by the Security Industry Authority. By the end of the session learners will have covered the following areas: Roles & Responsibilities, Conflict Management.
The topics covered include:
Unit 1 - Roles and Responsibilities:
- Customer care
- Social skills
- Fire safety
- Health & Safety
- Dealing with incidents & emergencies
- Civil law
- Criminal law
- Control of keys
- Security equipment
- Assignment instructions
- Reporting
Unit 2 - Conflict Management:
- Introduction to Communication Skills and Conflict Management
- Self-awareness
- Avoiding Conflict
- Effective Communication and Customer Service Skills
- Recognising and Defusing Conflict
- Maintaining Space
- Defusing High Risk Conflict
- Resolving Conflict
- Learning from Conflict
Method of delivery and assessment:
Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and disscusion.
Delegate knowledge is checked using a written exam.
Duration of training:
Up to 3 days depending on the course configuration.
