This course covers the principles of ‘Intensive Interactions’. The knowledge and skills covered enable staff to interact with service users in a meaningful way, therefore minimising the potential for ‘Challenging Behaviour’ and any ‘Restrictive Interventions’.

WHO IS THIS COURSE DESIGNED FOR?

Staff working in care settings and who support individuals may exhibit behaviours that challenge. It can also serve as an important prelude for staff who may be moving on to learn physical disengagement / intervention skills

COURSE AIMS

To build on existing knowledge by looking at the causes of ‘Challenging Behaviour’, and examining proactive measures as well as reactive strategies that staff can utilise to prevent positively manage ‘Challenging Behaviours’

DELIVERY/ASSESSMENT

Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and discussion. (The length of the course is determined following a training needs analysis).

 Learners knowledge is evidenced by verbal or written questioning, and will include a Multiple Choice Test
