The 'Fluids and Nutrition' workbook covers; the components of a balanced diet, food safety, promoting the importance of nutrition and hydration, the signs of malnutrition and dehydration. Our unique learning resource also means that the learner will also achieve and be able to evidence some of the knowledge requirements of the QCF awards at Level 2 & 3.

By the end of the course candidates will be able to:

  • Identify a person’s eating and drinking preferences
  • Assist with nutrition and hydration while maintaining choice and independence
  • Define the elements of a balanced diet
  • Describe ways of promoting eating and drinking
  • Monitor and record fluid and dietary intake
  • Assist with special diets

Candidates’ knowledge is assessed using a multiple-choice test, which is designed to ensure that the course text must be read and absorbed. Any written material resulting from the activities can be shown to the candidates’ QCF assessor to help them meet the knowledge specifications of the relevant unit
