Quick Overview

Our SIA ‘Physical Intervention Trainers’ course is designed to provide prospective trainers with the SIA qualification required to deliver the ‘Physical Intervention’ component of the mandatory SIA courses for security guards and door supervisors.

Staff who have responsibility for delivering Conflict Management Training.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) have made it a legal requirement for all security operatives who interface with the general public to undertake conflict management training.  Trainers who are to deliver this programme must hold an SIA/QCA accredited training qualification.

The SIA require all trainers who train candidates for SIA endorsed licensing qualifications to have a teaching or training qualification at NQF Level 3 or above.

Trainers who register for a Physical Intervention Trainer programme and/or assessment to gain a SIA endorsed trainers qualification must have:

A formal recognised teaching/training or learning/instruction qualification that includes facilitation skills of group management and learning, and;

Knowledge and working experience of the security industry and/or hospitality sector as appropriate.

To enable learners to deliver the Level 2 BTEC in Physical Intervention into the security sector. There are two units

Unit 1 This covers the knowledge and skills that the learner needs to be able to train those wishing to work in the private security industry.

Unit 2  This will provide the learner with the skills to teach and assess the practical skills safely.

Formal presentation, group work, practical exercises and discussion.

Delegate knowledge is assessed via a combination of portfolio and scenario based learning facilitation
