Since 2015 the Care Certificate has provided the benchmark for induction training for ‘Care Support Workers’ and is designed to be completed within 12 weeks of commencing work. A ‘Care Support Worker’ denotes an Adult Social Care workers giving direct care in either a residential or nursing setting.  It all covers home care workers and domiciliary care staff as well as caring volunteers, porters, cooks or drivers that have direct contact with patients, service users and supported persons (the elements covered are determined by the role they fulfil). To make life easy for YOU Securicare offer a variety of cost effective ways to complete this training.

The Care CertificateSecuricare offer an online suite of online Care Certificate courses that allow you to select a range that best meet your local needs. They offer great value for money as each individual course contains content that is fully mapped across to meet the underpinning knowledge requirements for the QCF Diplomas in Health and Social Care at Levels 2 and 3. Completion of all of the courses allows the candidate to meet the knowledge specifications of all of the mandatory units of these QCF Diplomas. All of our induction courses are put together by a development team comprising PhD and Masters’ Graduate Nurses with a combined 50 years of practice in Health and Social Care. We also offer a very popular classroom training programme. Mark Hardy, who heads up SecuriCares classroom training in the Care Certificate training explains, “We know that good induction training is essential. We know that the knowledge provided will directly impact on the quality of the support provided to service users. Our aim is to deliver this training in a meaningful learner centred way…”

“What I’ve found is that managers are struggling to get staff to put pen to paper in their own time. They need an experienced trainer to motivate and guide learners through the programme… Experience tells me that its very beneficial to have someone to reassure the learners that any fears or anxieties they have about learning can be overcome…”

Mark has developed a way of maximising the learning experience, “What I do with the learners is go through each unit explaining the reasons for needing the knowledge to do their job. This makes the learning experience more real for them. The classroom is set up more like a workshop with different activities to do. The training is very interactive and includes different methods to support learning such as, subject related games and role play. I relate the questions to anecdotal experiences which help with greater understanding…”

Mark expands on creating the right conditions for personalised learning, “Learners can ask questions at any time during the workshop. We have had really good results in getting people through the care certificate whatever barriers people have had, we have overcome during class room sessions rather than online services… If you want to know how we can help you get in touch on 01904 492442 or trainers@securicare.com .…”
