The ICM held its first CPD day aimed at the security & protective services sector held in Leicester at the Voluntary Action Group on the 14th March. The day covered topics relating to the law and offered discussions around any issues trainers in this sector felt were important to learn more about. The day also allowed trainers to re-licence via the ICM for teaching the ICM L323 (Level 3) award for the Private Security Industry.

Trevel Henry of (NVC Awareness) and ICM Board member, led the programme on the day said: “As our first CPD event presented in this new format, it was a great success and feedback has been very positive. It clears the way for us to hold another CPD event in June which will build on the success of this one.”

Since the ICM launched its accreditation scheme specifically aimed at the health, social care and education, sector (Quality Award Centres Level 2 and 3), some significant organisations have come on board and more are pending. This is helping the ICM build a network of trainers operating in health, social care and education sector and the next stage is to host the first ICM CPD event for these trainers in September (date tbc).

Keith Hayns, ICM Board members and ICM’s Health, Social Care and Education development Group lead said: “The aim is to build upon the bank of knowledge out there that will help to develop and maintain standards and influence decision makers on policies related to violence, aggression and abuse and ensuring the well-being and safety of service users and employees.”

The ICM is currently providing refresher courses for Level 2 or 3 Quality Award Centres and now has dates for ICM Panel dates:
