Today ‘The Independent’ has reported on a case which involves bleach being used as a ‘cure’ for Autism.

The case, which is the first of its kind in the UK, came to light when a complaint was made to Thames Valley Police.  It involved the administration of a product called “Miracle Mineral Solution’ (MMS) which is being marketed in the UK by the US-based Genesis II Church as a ‘cure’ for amongst other things Autism, cancer, HIV, malaria and Alzheimer’s.

MMS contains ‘sodium chlorite’ and ‘hydrochloric acid’ which are both present in household bleach. Despite the fact that the UK food Standards Agency has warned that it could cause vomiting, diarrhoea and internal damage it remains available through various web and social media forums.

UK Autism Rights Activist Emma Dalmayne who went undercover to reveal the sale of the product said, 'It's unbelievable that these people are using an unscientific, unproven and unregulated product on their child…” The Police investigation continues.
